Emily Pofahl Created: July 19, 2021 06:57 PM (ABC 6 News) - Nonprofits serve our community in many different ways, and many people found that during the pandemic they could rely on these organizations for food, shelter, and even healthcare. But the pandemic was hard on our nonprofits too. Some had to close down and won't be reopening. The Minnesota attorney general recently released data that shows at least 186 nonprofits ceased operations since April 2020. The pandemic put many key community services on pause and we had limited access to food banks, child care, health care, and the arts. Nonprofits that provided these services had to close their doors. At the start, no one knew how to do these things safely.
