At the height of the pandemic, Massachusetts gyms and fitness centers were shut down to try and curb the spread of the coronavirus.

"It seems like people are slowly coming back, Mark Dimarzo," the general manager of MG Fitness in Wakefield says. "Some people got their vaccines, so they’re more comfortable."
Luring customers back has been a challenge, especially going up against big box gyms like Planet Fitness, Boston Sports Club and Crunch Fitness, offering no sign-up fees and several months for free.
