Longest SCL connection tunnel completed on Tideway 1/3 The tunnel was excavated from Falconbrook Pumping Station on York Road in Wandsworth 2/3 The tunnel is the longest sprayed concrete lined tunnel on the Tideway project 3/3 A secondary lining will now be cast within the shaft and tunnel Excavation of a 250m long tunnel to link the Falconbrook Pumping Station in Wandsworth to the new Tideway supersewer has been completed this week. Mechanical excavation and sprayed concrete lining (SCL) methods were used to construct the 3.2m internal diameter tunnel, as well as the 9am diameter, 41m deep drop shaft on the site. Work on site also involved construction of a 15m long, 2m wide tunnel at 20m below ground level to connect the pumping station into the shaft.
