Looking to escape a flood zone in West Monroe? This $5.2 million program can help get homeowners to higher ground View Comments If you're a homeowner in a flood-prone area, a new program may soon be able to help you move out of it. West Monroe residents in flood-prone areas will soon be given the opportunity to participate in a voluntary residential buyout. The state has awarded $5.2 million to fund buyouts of residents living in Watershed Region 3, which includes most of northeast Louisiana. The project is a part of the Louisiana Watershed Initiative's nonstructural program and will provide support for residents interested in relocating to areas that are not affected by flooding.
