Many thanks to the Hawaii Department of Health for its well organized and administered COVID-19 vaccination clinic Jan. 11 at UH-Maui College.
When I arrived for my appointment, I was surprised that so many people were there. Only later did I learn that the staff and volunteers were equally surprised that five times the expected number of people had shown up. The staff and volunteers were undeterred and pressed ahead doing what they came for.
I joked with the pediatrician who administered my shot that she probably didn’t see many kupuna in her practice. I smiled when she said, “Yes, but I’ve administered a lot of vaccinations.”
