× A HIT-AND-RUN driver who killed a man on the M1 near Barnsley fled the country to Slovakia, an inquest was told. The inquest into the death of 25-year-old Jake Glover-Brown, from Barnsley, concluded he died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision which occurred on October 18, 2019, at around 11.55pm. He had been drinking with a friend before attempting to cross the northbound carriageway on foot near junction 35A. He died instantaneously, the inquest held at Sheffield’s Medico Legal Centre by assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden was told. Lukas Kandrac, 24, was handed a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and disqualified from driving for 12 months after the incident.
