Owing to the rapid growth in coronavirus cases in Yavatmal and Amravati, authorities have decided to implement a strict lockdown to bring the situation under control. While the administration has announced a weekend lockdown in Amravati, Yavatmal will be witnessing stricter lockdown of 10 days starting from Thursday night. Yavatmal has witnessed a spike in positive cases since February 1. Reportedly, Yavatmal Collector MD Singh said that the authority has decided to conduct around 500 tests per day in Yavatmal, Pandharkawada and Pusad municipal corporations.
