Man arrested following chase, exchange of gunfire near Silve

A Woodburn man is in custody and a female passenger hospitalized following what police described as a chase and exchange of gunfire with officers in Silverton.
Deputies and officers began pursuing a white Ford F150 Wednesday afternoon near Silverton on a report of a possible kidnapping, according to Oregon State Police.
The suspect in the pickup led police on a chase through Silverton while officials say an unidentified occupant of the Ford fired several shots at officers.
The suspect stopped on Highway 214 near Forest Ridge Road NE, where he exchanged shots with officers, striking multiple police vehicles.
