Man charged with murder stabs cellmate in county jail

South Bend Tribune
SOUTH BEND — A murder suspect being held in the St. Joseph County Jail stabbed his cellmate earlier this week, police say.
Malik Ware, 26, was stabbed in his neck and arm on Monday afternoon by Mark Coleman, a release from the St. Joseph County Police Department said.
Ware was in his cell at the time. Police believe Coleman, Ware's cellmate, was "unprovoked" in attacking Ware.
Coleman, 37, was charged Wednesday with felony battery in connection to the stabbing. Court documents say Ware and Coleman didn't know each other and that Coleman began asking Ware if he was the devil and threatened to kill him.
