Delaware Business Now Reading Time: 1 minute An Elkton, MD man has been arrested after a police officer spotted a backhoe traveling down Route 40. At 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, an Elkton police officer found it curious that a yellow Caterpillar backhoe was travling on the shoulder at an odd hour and without a support vehicle. A traffic stop was made in the area of the Elkton McDonald’s at Route 13 and 40. The operator, later identified as 40-year-old Joshua Parlier of Elkton exited and fled on foot. After a brief, foot chase Parlier was apprehended without further incident. Police learned the backhoe, valued at $30,000 was stolen on November 30 from a construction site located on Otts Chapel Road, near Newark.
