Man skips his own Syracuse child kidnapping trial, but he’s not guilty anyway Updated Apr 28, 2021; Syracuse, NY -- An Alabama man decided not to show up for his own attempted kidnapping trial in Syracuse this week, but a jury acquitted him anyway. Darnell Williams, 31, was accused of trying to forcibly abduct a 9-year-old girl waiting for the school bus on a South Side street the morning of March 2, 2020. The stranger told the girl to come with him. When she refused, he promised her “something” if she came with him. When she refused again, he pulled a knife and threatened that “something” was going to happen if she didn’t do what he wanted.
