Marshalltown, other CIML schools plan to leave suburban schools and form new conference

Change is likely coming to the Central Iowa Metropolitan League.
According to a letter obtained by the Register that was sent to CIML school superintendents and athletic directors Sunday night, Marshalltown and other CIML schools plan to withdraw from the league and create a new league where "students can have a more equitable and successful interscholastic experience."
In the letter, Marshalltown Community School District Superintendent Theron J. Schutte indicated that he's writing on behalf of Ames, Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown, Fort Dodge, Ottumwa and Mason City school districts.
