Print Robert Lang, WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5 For the second year in a row the Maryland Half Marathon benefiting the Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Maryland will be a virtual race. Dr. Kevin Cullen, the center's director says the race is a major fundraiser for the center and has raised more than $4 million. Cullen says participants can choose to run a half marathon or a 5-kilometer race any time between this Saturday and next Monday. Cullen says money raised from the race helps fund the cancer center's research including a new treatment for pancreatic cancer. Cullen says the fundraising goal for the race is $500,000.
