Masking reality published : 8 Jul 2021 at 04:00 After the coronavirus spread around the world in 2019, face masks became an essential item in people's lives. While a face mask symbolises safety and protection, it can reflect inequality in society and an ineffective government. Organised by Issaraphap Design as a part of Bangkok Design Week 2021, "A New Interpretation Of Face Wear Design Exhibition" features 26 mask design finalists selected from 436 designs by students from 21 universities. The highlights of the exhibition are three winners in three different categories -- Wrap Mass (Functional), Fresh Shield (Innovation or New Possibility) and Greedy (Conceptual). "A face mask is like an extra organ of our body. I feel uncomfortable wearing it, but I hesitate to take it off when I am outside my dormitory. I prefer to feel uncomfortable rather than be infected," said winner Laksikaporn Surod.
