National Weather Service The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Southeastern Massachusetts and a watch for multiple Massachusetts counties Saturday ahead of the storm. The winter storm warning goes into effect for Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes and Plymouth Counties at 7 a.m. Sunday and will remain in effect until 1 a.m. Monday. “Heavy wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph,” the warning states. “Heaviest snow is expected Sunday afternoon with 1 to 2 hour snowfall rates possible a times.”
