McKee says he asked Raimondo to wait on PUC nomination PROVIDENCE -- Lt. Gov. Daniel McKee is weighing in on the appointment of a new member to the state Public Utilities Commission, saying he specifically asked Gov. Gina Raimondo to allow him to make the nomination after his swearing-in. Raimondo, however, didn't heed his request, and instead, on the eve of her departure to Washington for a job in the Biden Cabinet, nominated former Senate Majority Leader John "Jack" Revens to the $139,000-a-year position on the powerful commission that sets water, gas and electric rates. Hours before the Senate Committee on Commerce was set to hold a hearing on Revens' nomination Friday afternoon, McKee sent a letter to Chairwoman Susan Sosnowski urging committee "members to ensure careful review and evaluation of the nominee’s commitment to rigorously represent the interests of Rhode Island ratepayers ahead of the interests of utility company shareholders."
