McKee to update vaccination effort as positivity rate, hospitalizations tick up

The director of the Rhode Island Department of Health said Thursday that people should be diligent about mask-wearing and social distancing if planning to spend Easter or Passover with friends and family this weekend.

A year ago, houses of worship were closed, and then-Gov. Gina Raimondo pleaded with people to stay home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the early weeks of the pandemic.
Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott said we are "definitely in a better place" now, but she said holidays have caused difficulty in the past with spikes after Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's.
