Metro-North commuters battle frozen conditions in Fairfield News 12 Staff Updated on:Feb 08, 2021, 12:50pm EST Commuters at the Metro-North station in Fairfield battled bitter cold and frozen conditions Monday following a snowstorm that left several inches on the ground. Temperatures took a plunge overnight causing the fallen snow to become hardened and slick. Black ice is a major concern for some commuters both traveling to the station and walking to the platform. Sunday's storm comes just a week after the region was slammed with a classic nor'easter that dropped over a foot of snow in some parts of Connecticut. News 12 meteorologists say the snowy period is not over yet, and that there are four more chances of snow over the next several days including Tuesday morning when between 2 and 4 inches of snow could fall.
