The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) joins the North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA) and other agencies and organizations in recognizing the week of Feb. 22 as National Invasive Species Awareness Week. National Invasive Species Awareness Week is an annual international event to raise awareness about invasive species, the threat that they pose, and what can be done to prevent their spread. âMississippi has numerous invasive species that threaten the health of forests across the state,â said MFC State Forester Russell Bozeman. âEducation is the best way for Mississippians to help prevent the spread of these harmful plants and forest pests.â
