Power is retiring from the board at the end of his term. “If I am re-appointed, it will be for another six-year term,” the 77-year-old Power said, as he wanted someone new to step into his role. “I did not want to commit another six years to it. Eighty-three is way too old.” As one of the three members of the road commission, Power was responsible for overseeing 1,800 miles of roads, more than 100 drains, the county parks, and the county airport. The road commissioners set the policy for how the department operates as well.
