Michael Seamans

Michael Seamans. Michael G. Seamans is an award-winning international photojournalist whose work has taken him from the bedside of a surgeon dying of Lou Gehrig's Disease to the rock and ice ledges of the Moose's Tooth mountain in the Alaska Range.
Seamans is on staff at the Morning Sentinel newspaper in Waterville, Maine. His work has been published by The Weather Channel, Foreign Policy, The Atlantic, USA Today, and other outlets world-wide.
He is the 2018 National Press Photographers Association New England Region Photographer of the Year.
His photography for The Weather Channel on how climate change is impacting Maine's lobster industry was honored as a 2018 outstanding feature by the Society of Environmental Journalists and received an honorable mention from the Society for Advanced Business Editing and Writing the same year.
First Ascent: Bomb Cyclone, a video documenting how a polar vortex forged conditions for a new ice climbing route, was named best video by the Maine Press Association in 2018.
He is a two-time Pulitzer Center grant recipient. In 2015 he reported on the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone, including infant and maternal mortality rates and rural outreach by health advocates.
