Midcourse Correction Challenge Camps isn't a good fit for every teen deemed troubled or at-risk. Hundreds of teens a year are sent to the military-style weekend boot camp. Either judges or probation officers order them to attend or their parents and guardians send them there. Some thrive at the boot camp designed to instill discipline and turn them away from bad behavior. Yet, several former campers describe the experience as traumatic and say the camp crossed lines. The nonprofit Christian camp, which is held in Otisville and headquartered in Howell, is part of what is often called the "troubled teen industry."
