One community is set to benefit from a dedicated policing team being deployed to their town. Millom is the latest area to feature in Cumbria Constabulary's expansion of neighbourhood policing, which gives officers the capacity to respond to local concerns more quickly and effectively. Five Whitehaven-based officers will be moved down to Millom, based in the Network Centre on Salthouse Road in the town, made possible with thanks to public support to increase the area of council tax that goes to funding police. The increase was proposed by Cumbria’s police and crime commissioner Peter McCall to improve policing in the county.
