MLB rumors: Mets name acting general manager to replace Jared Porter, who was fired for sexting Updated Jan 27, 2021; Facebook Share The New York Mets announced Wednesday Zack Scott will be acting general manager, a move which came eight days after the team fired Jared Porter. Last week, ESPN reported “Porter sent explicit, unsolicited texts and images to a female reporter in 2016, culminating with a picture of an erect, naked penis, according to a copy of the text history obtained by ESPN.” Less than 12 hours after that report, Mets owner Steve Cohen fired Porter, who had been on the job for five weeks. Porter had replaced Brodie Van Wagenen, who was fired in November after Cohen completed his purchase of the club.
