100+ Women Who Care Monadnock stepped up recently to help fund critical support for local teens, with a donation of over $11,000 to Avenue A, a program of The Grapevine Family and Community Resource Center in Antrim.
In the last year, almost 20% of local teens admitted to having thoughts of suicide, a surge that reflects the trauma of Covid-19. As explained by Mikala Mackesy, teen representative for Avenue A, teens have suffered “isolation and loss of connection to friends and loved ones. They’re reaching out and just waiting for someone else to reach back.” Jacqueline Roland, Avenue A Coordinator, noted that Avenue A is the only teen center in New Hampshire that is embedded in a family and community resource center, expanding both its reach and its services.
