More housing relief funds are available for struggling people in Kodiak, the Kodiak Island Housing Authority (KIHA) announced on Tuesday. A total of $5.8 million is available to renters in Kodiak who have demonstrated housing insecurity, have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and make less than 80% of area income. In Kodiak Island Borough, that works out to $78,720 a year, or $6,560 a month. âBased on this criteria and guidance from our Board of Directors, KIHA is committed to serving all eligible households that apply,â KIHA Director Mindy Pruitt wrote in a press release. Those who have received assistance from other sources are not eligible to apply. The money can be used for rental and utility payments over the last 12 months. There currently is no deadline to apply for the KIHA money.Â
