Amritsar, December 9 Backing the protesting Indian farmers, three US lawmakers — John Garamendi, Jim Costa, Sheila Jackson Lee — have expressed concern over the agrarian crisis erupted due to newly enacted farm laws. In a joint letter addressed to Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Embassy of India to the United States, the US Congressmen wrote that they were distressed to see the actions of the Indian government that had restricted the rights for many Indians; not only for farmers, but also for religious minorities and the human rights organisations. Dr Pritpal Singh and Jaswant Singh Hothi from the American Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee showed gratitude towards the US lawmakers for raking up the ongoing farmers’ agitation and told the Indian Ambassador that the country should demonstrate a model of democratic values while dealing with the farmers, who were peacefully demonstrating for their rights.
