Mother Nature expected to ring in new year by bringing snow to Topeka

At a time when COVID-19 has already put a damper on holiday festivities, a winter storm was forecast to bring 4 to 6 inches of snow Thursday evening and Friday to Topeka, further discouraging New Year's Eve partiers on their annual night of revelry.
"Winter weather will likely impact any New Year’s festivities," the National Weather Service's Topeka office said on its website.
The weather service issued a winter storm watch Wednesday morning indicating a winter storm was expected on Thursday evening and Friday to bring snow, sleet and freezing rain to northeast Kansas.
Topeka was expected to see no ice but 4 to 6 inches of snow, with ice accumulations coming to the capital city's south and east, according to a graphic posted on the weather service's website.
