First, the Intelligence Community assesses that israel is not to blame for the explosion of the hospital in gaza. They believe it was an errant rocket from terrorists in gaza. Senator warren and i put out a joint statement a while ago saying we have reviewed a bunch of intelligence. I feel confident saying the israelis did not hit the hospital yesterday. Senator rubio put out a joint statement. I can say firsthand, havent reviewed the intelligence, it is my Firm Assumption that israel is not responsible for the awful destruction of the hospital and gaza. I think it is very important the Intelligence Community and others learn for it as much as possible to bring that evidence to lights, since there are clearly protests not only in the west bank but around the world. These images are horrible. But i thought it was incumbent that i see the intelligence firsthand before i reached a conclusion. And that conclusion is our that number of casualties at the hospital exaggerated . I dont have that information. This is being debated in the price around the world. And clearly there are some press outlets not friendly to the United States or to israel, that maybe simply not showing or telling those story. Is so here he was referring to alternatives. There are three or four alternatives. One is to refrain from a Ground Operation altogether. But when he said find an alternative, he just basically admitted, lawrence, there are no good options here. Let me go back to one of the options you mentioned, which is the just stop. Which i think in the United States, if you follow that language of some of the demonstrators whove been on the streets, calling for a ceasefire, if is there an option that is essentially a cease fire that thin concentrates on some kind of negotiation for foreign hostages . The option is there. But there is a qualitative difference because of the scale and the magnitude of what happened on saturday october san fran, ten days ago. This was so devastating and so shocking that i think this alternative, at this point at least, is not seriously raised by israel. Its not seriously considered as a viable option at this point. Now both of thus my understands the logic of stopping right now. But this is a non state actor. This is a terrorist organization, as President Biden said, capable of unadulterated evil, ices style. Executions and indiscriminate murder. So i think the impetus, the motivation, the Self Justification to just stop now doesnt exist. On the other hand, its going to have to, i mean, this option will have to be raised at some point. Because the alternative is to bring down hamas, and israel has been using all these euphemisms and synonyms. Eradicated, obliterated they all involve almost invariably of major Ground Operation. Which is what biden warned against. So while that option makes sense, its just almost unnatural to think that anyone is playing it, at this point, seriously. I want to listen to something the president said today about a twostate solution. Lets listen to this. As hard as it is, we must keep pursuing pace. We must keep pursuing a path so that israel and the Palestinian People can both love safely and securely indignity and pace. For me, that means a Two State Solution. That phrase, Two State Solution, is not something weve been hearing a lot in israel in recent years. No, not at all. I mean, the term Two State Solution, not only disappeared from the political jargon, discourse, but its been heralded as a no longer viable option. Did solution. Not feasible. Not acceptable. This has been american policy since bill clinton. When he published, following camp david and july of 2000, he published the clinton parameters. George w. Bush took spoke of two states. Barack obama was Vice President was joe biden, of course. Twostate solution is the preferred option for an American Point of view. Even donald trump did. And now, biden is speaking about it. But you have to understand, even if israel will entertain the option as the only, not a great option, but as the only workable solution in the long run, the events of october 7th preclude that and moralis take it off the table in the immediate timeframe. Because people are going to say, naturally, theyre going to say look at what happens on october 7th. You actually seriously think israel will now allow for Palestinian State to be established . We are going to have these october 7th incidents on a weekly or monthly basis. Thats going to be but in the slightly longer run, lawrence, israels gonna have to get back to the alternative is going to be a one state model. Meaning, by National State and which there is a population, demographic equilibrium. 50 jewish and 50 precedent palestinian so i think this will be, this will reenter public discourse. However, i dont know if youre going to go into that. However, this necessitates not only serious on the past of the palestinians, but it will require a completely different Israeli Government. A Government Led by mr. Netanyahu, right when messianic people he built his coalition with. This government is never going to come to complete seriously a twostate solution or enter negotiations. I think the, if i may add quickly, i think biden is merkley thinking of the day after. Meaning, that while america didnt want to get involved, america doesnt want to be an intermediary again for the umpteenth time in the last 30 years, this crisis may provide difficulty to even use the word right now, but it may provide a Silver Lining in terms of a final realization that the Two State Solution needs to be back on the table and needs to be seriously considered. My ears pop today when i heard it, as part of a serious dialogue going on with israel today, at this most serious of all moments. To hear the president say Two State Solution was something that took me back in time. Yeah, i know. Its back to the future. But he had to. From his point of view, he keeps on saying, guys, i have a understand your, encouragement be consumed by it, he said. We have been through 9 11. That rage was fair. Dont be consumed by it because youre bound to make mistakes. Do not repeat our mistakes. We saw justice, we achieved justice, but we made mistakes along that way. Please dont do that. The alternative to not doing that is, as your iris popped and mine too by the way, is to go back to the Two State Solution. Why the u. S. Would want to mediate this, if the two parties are unwilling or incapable of making those hard decisions, i dont know. But we dont have time right now on your show. But there are other options, other construct that can be considered. And interim trusteeship by nato, by the u. N. Im not saying its easily done, but Everything Else was tried and failed. There could be attained era process rather than a, lets meet for one weekend at camp david and get this done. That obviously failed. But it doesnt mean we cant stretch it a long time if there is goodwill and a serious intention to get it done.
