The Maharashtra Health Department stated that the state has reported 58,924 fresh infections; a day after reporting the highest number of 68,631 cases on Sunday. The total number of cases now reached 38,98,262.Unfortunately, 351 people died due to the COVID virus on Monday. The death toll in the state reached 60,824. The recovery rate in the state is 81.04 per cent. There are presently 6,76,520 active cases in Maharashtra.Meanwhile, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has taken his vaccination shot on Monday. He had tested positive for COVID-19 in February. Hence, he had to wait for a few weeks before he could get vaccinated.In other news, the Central Government has announced that citizens above the age of 18 will be eligible for vaccination from May 1. However, the states empowered to procure additional vaccine doses directly from the manufacturers, as well as open up vaccination to any category of people above the age of 18 for the same.After the announcement, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray warmly welcomed the Centre's decision to allow vaccination for all citizens above the age of 18.Stay tuned for all the updates:
