The list of possible names for Colonization Road East and West is now final. Residents provided the town of Fort Frances with 75 suggestions. They include Objiwe words such as Amik, meaning beaver; Makwa, meaning black bear; and Miikana, meaning road. Others are Harmony, Reconciliation, and Community. The names first go to town council’s planning and development committee for review next week. The goal is to narrow the list down to five for council to decide on two. Here the complete list of suggestions. English translation provided by the Ojibwe People’s Dictionary. Acorn Agaming (at the lake; at the water; on the shore)
