Supreme Judicial Court Justice Serge Georges Jr. sat inside the John Adams Courthouse and pressed an attorney, Joshua Garick, to explain the alleged discrepancies in payout rules for blackjack. A gambler claimed a Massachusetts casino ripped off its customers by paying out less than it should for blackjack winnings by a factor of 6 to 5 instead of 2 to 3.
Garick, who would normally be standing in court to address the judge, stood in front of a white wall in his home as he made his rebuttal, with pictures framed on a wall behind him.
