An NDP government will launch an inquiry into the sale of BC Rail. Leader Carole James said Premier Gordon Campbell broke a promise to the people of Prince George when the railway was sold. “In 2001 Gordon Campbell came to Prince George,” she said to a crowd of about 150 people in Prince George Saturday. “He looked all of you in the eye and said he wasn’t going to sell BC Rail. Well Gordon Campbell broke his promise, He sold BC Rail.” The sale resulted in a raid on the legislature and the case ending up before the courts. “Every trail of that disgraceful story starts and stops in Gordon Campbell’s office.” She said. “We now know his campaign manager and his closest friend Patrick Kinsella received $300,000 of taxpayer money, and Gordon Campbell won’t tell us why.”
