A new computer program in the Bedford County register-recorderâs office aims to help prevent deed fraud. Register-Recorder Dwight âJRâ Winck said the protection program FraudSleuth is now available on the countyâs website. The software can send alerts to residents whenever a document with their name on it is filed in the office. While fraudulent mortgages have not been a problem in the county in the past, Winck said it is a concern in the Eastern region of the state in and around Philadelphia. âDeed fraud is definitely an issue down there,â he said. âWe want to be proactive before it comes to Bedford County. If and when it comes, we will be ready for it.â
