New facility to provide education for any former Genesee County Jail inmate with a felony Updated Mar 05, 2021; Facebook Share FLINT, MI -- The Genesee County Jail’s IGNITE program will soon offer education and other support services to former inmates with felonies who have left the facility. The IGNITE (Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education) program, announced in September, expanded the jail’s education program beyond just the ability to earn a GED. Now, the sheriff’s office is expanding IGNITE again. The program, which aims to break the cycle of generational incarceration negatively affecting families and communities, is made possible through the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools.
