Mass vaccination site to open March 3 at Albany armory FacebookTwitterEmail The Washington Avenue Armory in Albany — perhaps best known as home court of the Patroons basketball team — will be transformed into a mass-vaccination site, slated to open in March. (Jim Franco/Special to the Times Union.)James Franco ALBANY — A mass vaccination site will open at Albany's Washington Avenue Armory that will deliver 7,000 shots a week, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Wednesday. The site, which will open March 3, was announced along with three others in Yonkers, Buffalo and Rochester, joining two mass-vaccination sites opened in Queens and Brooklyn. All six are designed to reach "socially vulnerable communities," meaning predominantly people of color who would otherwise have less access to the vaccine and are on average more distrusting of it.
