The latest appointment had been confirmed in a gazette notification published by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Sobhitha Rajakaruna has been appointed to the Special Presidential Commission to fill in the void created following the resignation of Ratnapriya Gurusinghe. The Special Commission was appointed by the President to implement the recommendations and decisions made by the Presidential Commission that probe incidents of political victimization under the previous Government.
