New music stadium in New Haven holds grand opening after a year’s wait

The first show at New Haven’s Westville Music Bowl is scheduled for Friday night after a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday and more than a year after its construction was completed.
Seating capacity for the venue this month is 2,000, but at full capacity — 3,000 to 5,000 seats — the Music Bowl will rival the old New Haven Coliseum, which closed in 2002 and was demolished five years later.
