CLEVELAND’S new Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Turner says he is confident he can deliver the majority of his commitments within a year of taking office. Conservative Mr Turner won a resounding victory in the election held last week and has stated his primary objective is to support the Cleveland force to address drug dealing, anti-social behaviour and violent crime. Mr Turner’s chief responsibility is compiling a Police and Crime Plan setting out the strategic objectives for the Cleveland force, which is set to be published later this year. In one of his first decisions, he announced that by mutual agreement he had terminated a joint collaboration with the Office of the North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner to share a chief executive, Simon Dennis.
