New website shows Sherborn residents how to become sustainable Wicked Local Editor's Note: The following was submitted by Dorothea Von Herder, the sustainability coordinator for Sherborn. The Sherborn Select Board, along with the town administrator, Energy Committee and Sustainability Coordinator Dorothea Von Herder, have announced the launch of its new “Sustainable Sherborn'' website, at https://www.sustainablesherborn.org/. The website is positioned to be a leading resource where residents and the school community can learn about a whole slate of actions they can take to combat climate change and to reduce their impact on the environment. Von Herder calculated the community-wide greenhouse gas inventory based on the year 2017. The data revealed that passenger vehicles contributed an estimated 45% of emissions, while residential electricity, heating, and air-conditioning demands accounted for about 42%. These results defined the focus of the new website as an educational hub for residents on how they can upgrade their homes to higher energy efficiency, burn less fossil fuels, and switch to greener transportation while saving money on electricity, gas and heating oil bills.
