NH Senate votes to move state primary elections to second Tuesday in August beginning in 2024

The New Hampshire Senate on Thursday approved a change in the date of the state primary elections from the second Tuesday in September to the second Tuesday in August, lengthening the state’s relatively brief general election campaign period by a month.
But the change would not take effect until the 2024 election cycle under the amended version of House Bill 98 passed by the Senate, which has an official effective date of Jan. 1, 2023.Sign up for our Newsletters
The bill would not affect odd-year municipal elections and addresses only elections for federal, state and county offices.
