An Oklahoma City activist has decided to not press charges following a scuffle during an Oklahoma County Jail Trust meeting earlier this month. Two groups of attendees exchanged strong words, which led to a short scuffle. Some people had to be escorted out. Local rapper and activist Jabee Williams told KOCO 5 that he was called a racial slur, which led to the exchange. Local activist Jess Eddy said one of the individuals in the video – whom we’re not identifying – shoved him. Eddy said police told him he could pursue criminal charges. But, he said, he decided not to after speaking with Jabee and other activists. “We understand the tables could've been different. It could've been us on the other side of those charges, and also since it isn't it's important that we send a message and say, ‘Listen, man, we forgive you and what you've done,’” Jabee said. The meeting was also newly elected Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson’s first day in office.Jabee said he plans to sit down and have a meeting with Johnson soon.
