Norman Knight: Making the best of it Norman Knight mug I awoke with an already fading vision of Martha Stewart lingering in my near-dream state. She may have been cooking something at that moment although you know how details of dreams so often slip away once you realize you are on this side of reality. As I lay there gradually coming back to consciousness a couple thoughts popped into my head. First, I wondered if Martha’s appearance in my dream had anything to do with her recipe (“Tuna with Mustard Seed Crust”) Becky and I had tried earlier in the week. The scenarios in our dreams — in mine, anyway — often seem to have some elements of events, items or snippets of conversation that actually happened during our waking hours. It’s impossible to prove cause and effect, of course, but that could be the explanation for why she was there. Then again, trying to find rationality in something as irrational as a dream is a pleasant but usually fruitless endeavor. (By the way, the recipe was a success. The salmon was delicious.)
