By MICHAEL MARTZ Richmond Times-Dispatch âIt went sideways pretty quickly as a violent mob came in and tried to break into the chamber,â Spanberger told the Richmond Times-Dispatch in a phone interview. Spanberger, who has a national security and law enforcement background with the CIA and U.S. Postal Service, said ânever in my wildest dreamsâ did she expect an insurrection in the U.S. Capitol. âIt is an unthinkable reality,â she said. Spanberger faulted Trump, but focused on the Congressâ most pressing responsibility. âOur first order of business is to count the electoral votes,â she said. âI will not allow for a mob or group of domestic terrorists to stop us from doing our duty.â
