Staff Report — Northampton County Public Schools announced this evening (Monday, Jan. 11) that the return to in-person instruction would be delayed at least until Jan. 24. It was originally scheduled to resume Jan. 19. Information about instructional materials and delivery will be communicated by each child’s school. “This is due to primary and secondary indicators as reported by the Virginia Department of Health,” according to the notice. Last night, Accomack County Public Schools suspended in-person instruction until further notice. “We looked at the numbers,” Holland told a Post reporter. “It’s the right decision to make.” A VDH website of school metrics provides primary and secondary indicators and shows the entire state of Virginia falls into the “highest risk” category for transmission in schools.
