Except that for Vancouver, normal will never be the same again. Shall we amble through some Olympic memories? One of the most disappointing performances of the games, to me, was Friday night, and there were a lot of medalists involved, but no medals being handed out. I like watching the figure skating gala performance, because it allows the medalists (and sometimes top runners-up) a chance to cut loose a bit and have some fun. Obviously someone forgot to tell most of this year’s performers. The vast majority of the performances looked uncannily close to what the skaters had done while they were in competition. The happy exception was the Canadian (no surprise) dance champions, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Watching them rock out to Everybody Dance Now at least wrapped up the gala on a high note.
