ESG investing not going away any time soon. The chief executive of the New Zealand stock exchange is expecting strong investor interest in new indices which weight the NZX’s biggest 50 companies on their carbon efficiency. The NZX today launched the country’s first carbon efficient indices together with index provider S&P Dow Jones Indices, called the S&P/NZX 50 Carbon Efficient Index and the S&P/NZX 50 Portfolio Carbon Efficient Index. Those indices will weigh companies listed on the NZX on their carbon intensity and sector impact, as measured by S&P subsidiary Trucost – an ESG analysis business based in the UK.
