The Ogun State Government has said it is collaborating with United Nations Population Fund to work out modalities to reduce dependency rate on the working-age population, who are majorly youths, for improved livelihood of all and sundry.
It said this on Friday in a statement titled “Ogun, UNFPA chart ways to reduce dependency burden’.
The statement said this was disclosed at a workshop in Abeokuta for stakeholders across relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, whose roles and responsibilities could help in achieving the state government’s agenda.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mrs Olufumilayo Dada, emphasised the need to encourage the larger proportion of the citizenry to become more productive and less dependent.
