Ohio researchers discover new COVID strain, along with evolu

Researchers in Ohio have discovered a new coronavirus strain and confirmed the evolution of another variant, both of which likely originated in the U.S., they announced Wednesday. The new strain carries a mutation identical to the fast-spreading U.K. variant, but scientists with Ohio State University believe it “arose in a virus already present” in this country.
