'Cold weather is a scare': Farmers concerned about apple crops freezing

Farmers from parts of the Upstate and Western North Carolina are concerned about the cold temperatures forecasted for the area and the impact they will have on crops.
“We do have three or four different varieties (apples) right now that are at a critical point of the bloom season,” said Don Justus, owner of Justus Orchard. Sign up for our Newsletters
Gala's, Pink Lady, and Granny Smith apples are blooming right now at Justus Orchard in Hendersonville. Justus is concerned that the apple buds will freeze and not survive the cold temperatures. Putting a dent in the farm's apple crop for 2021.
